The name Agios Georgios Pagon, comes from the homonymous church of Agios Georgios of the early 18th century that is located in the area and Pagon is used as it is close to the village of Pagi so it is also separated from another beautiful seaside area that of Agios Georgios Argyradon which is located to the south.
Visitors may assume that the sea waters are frozen by the name but the name “Pagon” comes from the noun “pagos (pax)” which was used in ancient Greek for any rocky hill or steep cliff and this particular village is located right on such a steep area.
In the area there is a wide selection of traditional taverns, fine restaurants and local gift shops. For everyday needs there are additionally several small supermarkets in the resort and on the promenade. Agios Georgios (Pagon) is suitable for families with young children or couples of all ages.
